Drinks with traditional local food in Chamonix

PLACES FOR LUNCH

As you can imagine, there are many places to eat out for lunch in resorts as famous as Chamonix. Here we have some suggestions to suit a variety of preferences; starting off with the Rider Café & Le Spot Restaurant, located at the mid station of the Grands Montets. This is the perfect duo to head to if you want a quick lunch at a great value. Both offer a variety of snack foods and provide beautiful views of the Chamonix Valley and Mont Blanc – certainly one of the better pits stops on a ski holiday in the French Alps.

If you like traditional Savoyard dishes, including fondues and pierrades, then head to the top of the Flégère cable car to ‘L’Adret de la Flégère’. Enjoy some great food on the south facing terrace that offer an awe-inspiring view of Mont Blanc. Finally, there is the ‘Summit 3842m Café’ which overlooks the Aiguille du Midi from the summit. The cafe can be accessed via the Aiguille du Midi cable car and offers a variety of food (including delicious tartiflettes!) be sure to check it out on your ski trip to Chamonix!

PLACES FOR DINNER

The town is large and home to a vast array of restaurants (165 of them in fact) with endless variety. From pizzerias and pasta houses, to traditional regional French cuisine and Michelin star restaurants, there is something to satisfy any set of taste buds. The main hotels in Chamonix also have excellent restaurants and are rather popular venues for evening dining. One of the best options is Le Vert Hotel Restaurant which is well known in the area for its international cuisine and excellent service.

Another restaurant to try for dinner is the Cabane des Praz, a traditional restaurant serving traditional dishes. Staff provide a warm welcome into this cosy establishment, with the beautiful

fireplace being the restaurant's focal point. A great spot for a romantic night out, you can tuck into a traditional Savoyard dish whilst enjoying one of the many fine wines on offer.
