La Plagne

La Plagne is, quite simply, the ski resort that has it all. Extensive and varied terrain, superb après ski, dramatic scenery and an abundance of character. Made up of 11 self-contained villages, all with their own individual quirks and quiddities, La Plagne is a rare breed of resort that will entice you back year after year for your annual ski fix.

At the top of the pile, proudly spread across the mountainside, the aptly named Belle Plagne is one of the most aesthetically pleasing high altitude resorts out there and is instantly recognisable by the traditional Savoyard architecture - which contrasts greatly from some of the other neighbouring La Plagne Villages. There is, however, more to Belle Plagne than overt beauty. A fine example of innovative French engineering, Belle Plagne has a network of underground car parks, which successfully preserves the village’s fine aesthetics as well as the surrounding natural environment. Furthermore, with a highly practical layout, ideal positioning within the resort itself and fantastic facilities, the beautiful Belle Plagne has everything you will need for a short ski break.  

Unlike the newer Belle Plagne, which demonstrates a new found architectural responsibility, Plagne Bellecote, Plagne 1800 and Aime La Plagne, are all built in the then-popular 1960s and 1970s tower block architectural style and are therefore somewhat less visually appealing, but highly functional nonetheless. Plagne Bellecote (1930m) is larger than Belle Plagne and also provides excellent access to La Plagne's endless terrain. Also, as the name suggests, Plagne-Centre’s central location also offers great access to the ski area but, admittedly, won't be winning any beauty prizes. Les Coches (1450) is Ideal for those wanting to make the most out of the Paradiski area, Les Coches sits just below the Vanoise express, which is close at hand to offer easy access to Les Arcs.
