APRES SKI IN SCHLADMING

The apres ski scene is typically Austrian - laid back and great fun! Most Apres ski bars in Schladming are located near the bottom of the Planai, near the gondola station and are all fairly lively until about 7pm.

Remeber, Schladming is made up of 4 mountains, so depending where you find yourself at 3pm, you'll find an apres bar at the base of each. If you are on the Hochwurzen for example, then the Tauernalm will be your apres ski bar of choice, which is by the gondola and the end of the toboggan run, it has an excellent outside area / bar for when the sun shines and a big canopy for snowy days. Inside also has a great vibe, and you can also ski down to the town afterwards.

If you want to start your apres higher up the mountain, then head to the Almrausch, located at the top of the Planai 6-person. This umbrella bar serves up the usual drinks, and has live acts add to the atmosphere. Last orders are around 6:30 pm and then you then need to ski back down to the town.

However most of the apres ski action in Schladming happens at the base of the Planai. For example, the Ho-Tenne Schladming is the largest après-ski hut in Europe and is located at the foot of the famous Planai run. Serving up the usual drinks and typically Austrian apres, this place goes off until 8pm daily.

If you want a slightly more chilled vibe, head to Finale, right next to the base lift station. Warm up with a glass of hot mulled wine or coffee, enjoy the view of the mountain and watch the other skiers conquer the final slope.
