Calling any and all solo skiers

Solo Skiers

The idea of going on a singles holiday anywhere in the world can seem a bit daunting, but there's no need to be apprehensive about booking a ski weekend for one in the Alps.

In fact, a winter sports holiday is probably one of the best options for solo travel - let's take a look at just some of the many benefits:

Friendly

Meeting like-minded people is really easy on a ski holiday. For starters, you know for certain that everyone else is into winter sports and adventure, so making conversation is easy.

There are loads of opportunities to meet people too. If you travel by coach - which has a number of benefits over air travel - you'll get plenty of chance for a chinwag, while taking group lessons is a great way to bond. After a hard day's skiing, you'll have plenty to reminisce about in the bar as you and your fellow skiers get your apres ski on.

In some hotels, you can even arrange to be seated for dinner with other guests so that you don't have to worry about awkwardly approaching a table full of people and sheepishly asking to join them.

Safe

Unlike heading off to an exotic country or a big city, you can generally feel pretty comfortable and secure in the welcoming surrounds of the average European ski resort. With the majority of the people in town fellow tourists intent on having a good time, you can be sure of a relaxed atmosphere.

Many of the ski resorts in Europe are picture-postcard chocolate-box villages, so there certainly aren't any seedy areas you have to worry about traversing.

No single supplement

Travelling solo can sometimes hit you in the pocket, but in many of the Three Valleys resorts, there is no single supplement to pay, so you're not losing out at all by travelling alone.

Even if there is a single supplement to pay, social media has made it really easy to arrange room shares so that you can reduce the cost and make a new friend at the same time.

Single parents

As well as single 20-somethings, ski weekends are readily accessible to those who are raising a brood of children by themselves. While the thought of trying to manage your little ones on the piste might seem terrifying, more and more people are doing it, which tells you that it's not only possible but fun too.

In fact, you're very likely to make friends with people in exactly the same boat as you - especially if you travel by coach - not to mention have the assistance of experienced reps to help you choose the best schools, restaurants and ski runs to suit you and your children.

So, what are you waiting for? Whether you're an eligible bachelor looking for the perfect ski partner or a single parent wanting to treat your kids to a week away, there's nothing quite like enjoying a solo ski holiday in Europe.
