BASI Qualifications

British Association of Snowsports Instructors

To become a ski or snowboarding instructor in Europe you will have to hold a valid BASI certificate. Snow Academy offer BASI ski courses up to level 2, putting you through your paces, allowing you to gain the necessary instructor qualifications.

This qualification is only attained with Snow Academy by doing our 11-week course in Whistler which starts in February. Currently, we are unable to offer BASI qualifications for snowboarding. Please keep reading about further information on BASI ski courses/qualifications.

About BASI

BASI is a members' association and the nationally and internationally recognised body for training and examining British Snowsport Instructors. The BASI mission is to create a national and international reputation for excellence through the provision of the highest quality of training and support services, for snowsport instructors.

Snowsports is an exciting, very demanding and ever-developing industry to work within. BASI recognises and values the importance of encouraging an individual’s enjoyment of skiing and snowboarding and values the individual strength of feeling and passion for a broad range of approaches to snowsport.

BASI provides courses in five disciplines:

  • Alpine
  • Snowboard
  • Nordic
  • Telemark
  • Adaptive

Qualifications within each discipline are available and BASI is now encouraging members to cross-over from their favoured discipline and to investigate and experience other disciplines.

BASI has 4 levels of instructor certification for both Alpine (ski) & snowboard and our courses take you up to Level 2 in a structured programme.
