SKI Area
You would be challenged to find another ski resort in Europe that offers the diverse scenery that Sierra Nevada boasts. With the accessible peak at 3300m you are guaranteed incredible views of some of the highest peaks in the Iberian Peninsula. Turn your head just a little and, on a clear day, it is sometimes possible to see the Rif Mountains that mark Morocco’s coastline, it's simply stunning.
Due to the altitude, the majority of the 106km of pistes are above the tree line which allows for long, wide slopes - perfect for less confident skiers to find a quiet space to ski and make fresh tracks. If you are looking for a challenge try the World Cup Giant Slalom run, the “Fuente del Tesoro”. Sierra Nevada has 6 different ski areas with a broad variety of runs in each but it is perfect for mixed ability groups to meet up easily for a quick Spanish brew on the slopes!

Advanced
Advanced skiers will find plenty of action on the Veleta Peak and in the Laguna valley. There is a choice of around seven black runs to choose from with some slopes at around 30 degrees. The Monachil sector can be quite a challenge as well as the steep descent from Valeta II to Borreguiles.
Intermediate
Sierra Nevada is perfect for intermediates. The mountain has wide open slopes which allow for a lot of freedom so intermediates should find themselves very comfortable on any red run. For intermediates up for a challenge, try the steeper reds to the left of the mountain.
Beginner
Beginners will be able to find their feet on the nursery slopes by the Borreguiles mountain restaurants. All slopes are above the treeline and beginners will find plenty of long, wide runs which are perfect for confidence building.
Snowboarder
The majority of the ski lifts are chairs or gondolas which it makes it a pretty easy ski area for boarders. Snowboarders will enjoy the half pipe and snowboard park at Sierra Nevada. There is also a popular run called the Tubo de Borreguiles.
Off-piste*
There are a number of different off-piste opportunities for the more experienced skier and snowboarder. These areas are easily accessible with little avalanche risks compared to other European resorts. The off-piste in Sierra Nevada is also quite good for the less experienced skier looking to try it for the first time.
