Saturday - The Quietest Day on the Slopes

Saturday snowboarding with a view

It does what it says on the tin. The chance to get a great weekend break packed full of skiing. The perk of the weekend though has to be the Saturday skiing: almost completely empty pistes, no wait for a coffee break, and not a lift queue in sight. The reason for this? Most other tour operators run their holidays from Saturday to Saturday so their poor holiday-makers spend these days sat in traffic either on their way up or down the mountain.

This weekend proved no exception and the less-than-perfect visibility deterred locals from venturing up the hill. As a result, we had a fantastic day exploring the lower levels of the Meribel Valley particularly the area surrounding the Roc de Fer lift straight out of Chaudanne. With all the snow we’ve had over the past few days, the piste was lovely and fluffy – great for a soft landing! The little side hits between the trees were full of untouched powder and far too tempting to ignore. A great chance to get that powder feeling, without straying from the piste. Bring on next weekend!
