La Folie Douce in Tignes

APRES-SKI IN TIGNES

Tignes has a wide option of après ski available due to the many different villages in the area, however, the biggest draw is still the world-renowned après ski bar, the 'Folie Douce'. With the après ski entertainment kicking off at 3 pm every day there is time to party all afternoon until the call comes to jump on the last lift to take you back over towards Tignes and Val Claret. Fortunately, those heading back down to Tignes-le-Lac can take the gondola back down, however, those going to Val Claret can find their way down the blue or red runs (be warned though as they do tend to get quite bumpy and busy towards the end of the day!).

At the Folie Douce, table dancing is a must and has effectively become a rite of passage for après skiers. But possibly the best thing about this venue is the live performers each day, with DJ’s, dancers, musicians and singers performing every day of the week in rain, sun or snow!

Back down in Tignes there are so many après ski bars that we couldn’t possibly name them all. Because of it's multi-village, fragmented layout (Tignes Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Le Lavachet & Tignes Les Brevieres), there is no one central place for all the pubs and après-ski bars. In La Lavachet you have So Bar, Brasero, Le Queue De Cochon (formerly Scotty’s bar) and Box Cafe Bar. At Tignes Le Lac give the Loop Bar a go. With a huge sunny terrace and lots of live music and DJ’s throughout the season, Loop Bar is a hub for entertainment.  The famous Cocorico après ski bar, which will be known and loved by fans of Val d'Isere, is now also open in Tignes Val Claret right next to the funicular.

If you are looking for something a bit more relaxed, then head for 'Le Studio' in Val Claret. Stylish and cosy, Le Studio offers a transition from some of the other bars around Tignes, with a friendly French crowd and a pleasant change in pace from the typical seasonaire vibe elsewhere!

Last, but by no means least on our shortlist, is L'Embuscade; described by many as a bit of a hidden gem, this cosy French bar is the perfect place to head after a long day on the slopes. With funky music in the background, a pool table and very well-priced drinks there are few places better to head for a good bit of après ski in the Espace Killy.

Tignes Nightlife

There is quite a mix of venues for a night out in Tignes, so the best place to go depends solely on your own preferences!  For a more sophisticated evening, Ski d’Or Hotel in Val Claret is a good option. Here you can head to the bar, settle into one of their comfy sofas and enjoy one of the barman’s exquisite cocktails – all whilst watching the sun come down on the glorious Espace Killy ski area. From here, Le Caveau – also in Val Claret – is a great place to head to. Le Caveau also happens to be one of Tignes’ best-loved restaurants but it has a lovely little bar area where they attract a host of live music acts coming from all over to perform. Although a little a pricey, Le Caveau attracts a variety of different guests which contributes to a fantastic atmosphere.

At the other end of the spectrum are the nightclubs in Tignes. Val Claret is home to two – Melting Pot and Blue Girl – and Le Lac is home to the other, Jack’s Club. Starting in Val Claret Melting Pot is set underground, and the origin of its name becomes apparent fairly quickly! Despite this, it is a good club with a host of great DJ’s - plus it is the only club in Tignes that has a policy of playing the latest music. Like most nightclubs in the mountains, Melting Pot is quite expensive, but it does attract most of the seasonaires until 4 am in the morning when it shuts! Blue Girl, on the other hand, fills its speakers with an eclectic mix of music, but mainly euro-pop, R’n’B and techno music engulfs the cave-like rooms.

The latest addition to Tignes nightlife is Strike Tignes.  This impressive venue, in Tignes Le Lac,  boasts the title of the biggest club in the Alps, featuring two rooms with a total area of 1,200 square meters. The club is adorned with modern street art design and equipped with high-end facilities, offering a significant boost to the local entertainment scene. Here, you can enjoy concerts and DJ events featuring international artists, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking vibrant nightlife experiences in Tignes.

Further down the mountain in Le Lac is Jack’s Club which offers a rather different experience to the other two nightclubs. With 10 bowling lanes and a games arcade all open until 2 am in the morning, and a nightclub which is open until 4 am in the morning, you can listen to a mixture of 80’s and dance music in both French and English.
