SNOW CONDITIONS IN TIGNES

With the Grande Motte glacier, Tignes has guaranteed snow throughout the winter and is even open for the majority of the summer as well – a great option for those who are missing the snow during the summer months! At high altitude, it also means that the slopes down to the various villages maintain a good snow cover throughout the season – and if by any chance that slopes are lacking a bit of snow - then Tignes operates around 350 snowguns throughout the Tignes ski area.

As well as snowmaking, the pistes are also extremely well maintained, with around 60% of the skiable area groomed daily resulting in consistently good skiing. Whilst it does have a vast number of pisted slopes, the Espace Killy is also home to a number of ‘naturides’ as well - this means that whilst being marked as a piste, it is not actually groomed throughout the season. The ideal spot to head for if you want to brush up on your mogul skiing.

With around 600cm+ of snow in Tignes each season, it's no surprise that Tignes is one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in France. This, in part, is what makes Tignes a superb resort to visit throughout the season.

Is Tignes snow sure? Offering great conditions from November all the way through to the end of the regular season, Tignes has some of the best snow in France.
