Apres ski in the Pub Mont Fort, Verbier

APRES SKI IN VERBIER

Verbier has a reputation to live up to when it comes to apres ski. There are plenty of bars and pubs to suit all tastes, both up the mountain and back on the ground, en-route back from the Medran lift.

Starting up the mountain, your first cold beer for apres ski will probably either be at Bar 1936 or Ice Cube Bar. Bar 1936 is situated on the red Combe run, and is usually lined with people facing the afternoon sun, drinking an ice cold beer in a deck chair. Ice Cube bar (get there early, it's pretty small!) is based at the top of the Les Ruinettes lift but has incredible views over the surrounding mountain ranges.

Back down at resort level, the Verbier après ski entertainment kicks off at 3pm every day (although many places don't get going until 6pm). Probably the most popular and well-known bar in Verbier is the Pub Mont Fort. Just down the hill from the Medran lift, this place has a brilliant outside terrace for afternoon lounging, as well as fancy dress evenings and a happy hour that runs from 4pm - 5pm. Don't be surprised to see Jager trains stretching the length of the bar either.

If you're going full tilt into the Verbier apres ski scene, the other bar you won't want to miss out on is the Farinet. Popular for it's live music, the Farinet is based next to Place Centrale, and is usually pumping out the apres tunes until it closes. Dancing on tables (and often the bar) in ski boots is a must. The Farinet also has a fully retractable roof, so if the melting pot gets too warm, the roof opens! It's also a great way to get everyone to head home at the end of the night!

There are a few places to go for a quieter drink too. Many of the hotel bars are much quieter, and some of the restaurants on Rue de Medran serve cold beer in the sun. Also the lounge bar at the Farinet (away from its live music venue next door) is a good option.

In terms of nightlife, there are a few clubs to choose from in Verbier. L'Etoile Rouge (formerly the Casbah) is located near the Farinet, and is the largest club in Verbier. It has an impressive list of guest DJs that spin the tunes until 4am if you really want to stretch out your apres session.

If you speak to anyone about Verbier nightclubs, they will undoubtedly mention the Farm Club. Notorious for its high prices (don't say we didn't warn you!), it is a Verbier institution. There’s no entrance fee but book a table early to ensure entry. Located on Rte de Verbier, down the road from Place Centrale. Open take your Swiss Francs from 11pm-4am.
