Snow Conditions IN ARGENTIERE
The ski season in Argentiere at the local ski area of Grands Montets runs from the first weekend in December through to the first weekend in May.
Grands Montets ski area, has an excellent snow record and due to its North facing slopes there is less Freeze/Thaw making the mountain the go-to for excellent ski conditions in the Chamonix Valley.
The average snowfall per season for stands at around 6 - 10 metres.
So is Argentiere & the Grands Montets snow sure? Yes, they are exceptionally snow-sure and widely considered to have the most reliable and highest-quality snow in the entire Chamonix Valley. Unlike the lower parts of the Chamonix valley where snow cover can be erratic, Grands Montets is highly resilient due to a combination of high altitude and geographical positioning - the ski area reaches up to 3275m, with many North facing slopes.
