SKI Area
- Total skiable area: approx. 225 km of groomed slopes
- Elevation range: from ~1,229 m up to ~2,865 m
- Lift network: 43 lifts across the combined area
There is a wide variety of terrain, with long groomed runs, dedicated beginner zones, steep black slopes, and dedicated snowpark/freestyle areas.
The two areas (Arosa & Lenzerheide) connected by the aerial link Urdenbahn since 2013/14.
Advanced
Although the advanced terrain makes up a smaller percentage (~12 %) of the total, the quality and variety are strong.
Signature runs:
The Silvano Beltrametti World Cup downhill run in Lenzerheide: very steep with gradients up to ~66%.
Off-piste/free-ride sectors around Urdenfürggli, Hörnli and other elevated sectors.
Terrain features: challenging black runs, mogul descents, ungroomed freeride zones and vertical drop for serious skiers.
Best for: experienced skiers/boarders who want challenge, steep runs, maybe guide-led freeride*.
Tip: For mixed groups, maybe plan one advanced outing, but ensure rest of group uses easier terrain for balanced satisfaction.
Intermediate
As skiers move beyond beginner level, there is a very strong offering of intermediate terrain across the resort — red and higher-end blue runs, long groomers and scenic descents.
Example runs:
- The Rothorn area offers wide gentle blues and red runs suitable for confident intermediates.
- Runs off the Weisshorn and Stätzerhorn offer more challenge but still well within intermediate realm.
Terrain features: good vertical drop (1,636 m) means long runs and variety in gradient.
Best for: skiers/snowboarders who are comfortable on blue slopes, want to push into red terrain and cover more area.
Tip: We recommend exploring from Arosa to Lenzerheide via the linking lifts to vary terrain and exposure
Beginner
The resort is very beginner-friendly: in the valley areas and around base stations you’ll find gentle, wide slopes and practice lifts.
Example zones:
- In Lenzerheide: “Auarara”, “Fastatsch” & “Heimberg” practice areas.
- In Arosa: “Honeyland Prätschli” and the valley runs at Tschuggen.
Terrain features: large proportion of blue / easy slopes (~49% of total) meaning plenty of space for first timers.
Best for: guests who are new to skiing/snowboarding, want gentle runs, comfortable progression, family groups with younger children.
Tip for your group: We suggest starting the day in one of the base-valley beginner zones and gradually linking to longer easy blue runs as confidence builds.
Snowboarding & Freestyle
The Arosa ski area includes freestyle/park infrastructure: there are four snowparks (e.g., Snowpark Tschuggen, JibArea Stätz) and dedicated areas for snowboarders and freeskiers.
Terrain friendly for snowboarders: wide slopes, modern lifts, and terrain parks with features for varying levels.
*Off piste - Ski Weekends strongly advise that off piste skiing should only be undertaken when in the company of a professional ski instructor or guide.
