PLACES FOR LUNCH
There is a great selection of venues for both lunch and dinner in Val d'Isere, though the restaurants on the slopes tend to be quite pricey. However, where the slopes are quite close to the village centre, it makes the restaurants on the main high street easily accessible giving you more options on where to eat.
L'Étincelle: A piste-side favorite under Chef Pierre Yves Casanova, L’Étincelle charms with a relaxed ambiance, generous sharing platters, pizzas and grilled meats, plus a large sunny terrace for lunch and stylish interior seating in the evenings.
La Grande Ourse: This iconic chalet-style restaurant exudes warmth and alpine elegance with its traditional Savoyard décor, roaring fireplace, terrace overlooking the slopes, and a menu that skilfully blends hearty local classics with refined touches.
Le Solstice: Located in the Hotel Le Yule, Le Solstice delivers a sophisticated village-front dining experience, with gourmet brasserie-style dishes, excellent desserts, sunny south-facing terraces, and a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere that's ideal after a full day on the slopes.
Up on the slopes, try out the Bellevarde Restaurant d’Altitude which is a snack bar, self-service restaurant and a normal(ish) restaurant with a great view up towards the Olympique gondola. Good value, and good food with a wide selection including regional specialities like tartiflette; if it’s a sunny day, try and get yourself on the terrace and submerge yourselves in the sun with a nice glass of wine for a real taste of paradise!
PLACES FOR DINNER
Val d'Isere is fortunate to be home to over 70 restaurants which offer a fantastic range of cuisine for its guests. Whilst the prices vary for the different restaurants - from fairly reasonable to pretty expensive – you will be sure to find something nice for your budget, but do remember that Val d’Isere has two Michelin star restaurants within a close vicinity!
Dining out in Val d’Isere is difficult, simply because there is so much to choose from! With La Table de l’Ours (1 Michelin star) you have the opportunity to devour some of the very best food in the Alps after a long day on the slopes. If you fancy a different dining experience though, then head over to the Ski Gallery & Fondue Factory located on the high street. Take a journey through skiing history in the gallery whilst tucking into one of the many great fondues they have on offer with friends or family. We strongly recommend you try the cheese fondue before your ski holiday is over!
